The gender gap between male and female physicians sits at around 24%, according to Medscape’s 2025 “Physician Compensation Report,” published April 11. 

Medscape surveyed 7,322 physicians who responded between Oct. 3, 2024 and Jan. 15, 2025.

All physicians:

Men:$415,000

Women: $317,000

Primary care:

Men:$300,000

Women: $260,000

Specialists:

Men:$438,000

Women: $332,000
