False Claims Act settlements and judgments surpassed $2.68 billion during the 2023 fiscal year, according to a Feb. 22 news release from the Justice Department.

Last year the government and whistleblowers saw 543 settlements and judgments, the highest in a single year.

Of the settlements and judgments reported by the Justice Department in 2023, more than $1.8 billion related to matters involving the healthcare industry.
