The book, which was released in paperback Sept. 2, according to Amazon.com, covers everything from price transparency and billing to the use of robotic technology and outpatient-inpatient surgical competition. “At this point in my career, I just wanted to tell the truth,” said Dr. Ruggieri in an interview.

Dr. Ruggieri also wrote “Confessions of a Surgeon” published in January 2012, which provides outsiders with an accessible look at the reality of life as a surgeon.
