Sacramento, Calif.-based Carson Tahoe Health System — along with its affiliates Carson Tahoe Physician Clinics and Carson Tahoe Continuing Care Hospital — agreed to pay nearly $8.9 million to resolve allegations that it improperly obtained Paycheck Protection Program loans, according to a March 24 news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
What happened
- In 2020, Carson Tahoe Health System and its affiliates received $5.1 million in PPP loans, all of which were later forgiven by the SBA.
- In 2021, Carson Tahoe Physician Clinics received a second $2 million PPP loan, also forgiven.
- In total, the U.S. covered $7.3 million in forgiven principal, interest, and lender fees.
