California health data company closes $100M funding round — 3 insights

Verana Health closed a $100 million investment round as it attempts to advance its clinical database operation into other specialties, the San Francisco Business Times reports.

What you should know:

1. Verana has already established databases in ophthalmology and urology.

2. The company will now expand into other specialties and integrate imaging, genomic and insurance claims data into its existing registries.

3. GV, formerly known as Google Ventures, and Bain Capital Ventures led the funding round.
