In a study last year, University of Louisville professor Resad Pasic, MD, found a robotic-assisted hysterectomy cost $2,600 more per operation without improving patient outcome. The number of robotic-assisted hysterectomies performed almost doubled from 69,000 in 2009 to 110,000 in 2010.
