ASC specialties with the highest 5-year pay jumps

General surgery is the ASC specialty that saw the highest pay jump between 2019 and 2023, according to the Medical Group Management Association’s “Provider Compensation and Productivity Data Report” released May 28.

The report included 2023 data from more than 211,000 physicians and advanced practice providers. 

Here’s how 10 ASC specialties’ pay changed from 2019 to 2023:

  1. General surgery: 13.6%
  2. Urology: 13.57%
  3. Orthopedic surgery: 12.4%
  4. Gastroenterology: 12.2%
  5. Invasive interventional cardiology: 12%
  6. Invasive cardiology: 11.6%
  7. ENT: 10.97%
  8. Noninvasive cardiology: 10.67%
  9. OB-GYN: 9.35%
  10. Ophthalmology: 8.84%
