Skyway Surgery Center has 19 physician partners with ownership stakes and 41 non-partner physicians who also perform procedures there.
“Physicians like to work here, at a center that does one thing and does it well,” said Laura Dahlin, business manager at the center. “They work with the same [surgical] team every time. The turnover time between operations is 10 minutes [for an operating room, versus up to an hour in a hospital]. It’s very efficient for them when they come in here — they get a whole lot done.”
She said Skyway Surgery Center maintains a patient satisfaction rate of 99 percent. The surgeons perform roughly 400 operations at the center per month in its four operating rooms.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
