5 health-focused AI companies taking 2023 by storm

From ChatGPT to Google AI, artificial intelligence is taking the world by storm in 2023, including five companies building healthcare-focused AI applications that have been named to Forbes' fifth annual "AI 50."

Forbes judges the AI companies through a quantitative algorithm and qualitative judging panels, looking at factors including diversity, revenue history, fundraising and valuation.

This is the first time that AI 50 has accepted companies outside of North America.

Five health-focused AI companies on Forbes' 2023 list:

Unlearn.AI: Unlearn specializes in clinical trial forecasting, partnering with pharmaceutical companies to provide drug study patients with a "virtual twin" who can help predict health change overtime.

Viz.AI: Viz uses diagnostic tools to spot diseases and coordinate care for patients once they enter a hospital for treatment. It was founded by physicians Chris Mansi, MD, and David Golan, MD.

Insitro: Insitro analyzes patterns in human genes and cells to discover potential new medications.

PathAI: Path frees up time for pathologists by scanning tissue samples of cells to determine if they look cancerous. It provides an extra pair of eyes that don't get tired or burnt out.

Bayesian Health: Bayesian evaluates patient health history and medical records to help health systems identify-high risk patients, allowing providers to take timely action.
