5 famous people who've had outpatient surgery: Zac Efron, Jon Hamm & more

Numerous athletes, actors and politicians have undergone outpatient procedures.

Actor Zac Efron had his anterior cruciate ligament repaired by Ronald Kvitne, MD, at Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles.

Johnny Rodgers, a 1972 Heisman trophy winner who played football at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was one of the first patients treated at Advanced Surgery Center in Omaha (Nebraska).

Kiefer Sutherland, an actor on the TV show "24," underwent outpatient surgery in 2010 after a cyst near his kidney ruptured, according to Parade.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., traveled to Ontario, Canada, for outpatient hernia surgery in 2018, the National Post reports.

"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm underwent outpatient surgery in 2013 to remove a polyp from his vocal cords, according to UPI.
