Gastroenterology continues to be a popular specialty for surgery centers spanning the nation, according to VMG Health’s Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker 2017.

Here are 11 statistics on case volume as a percent of total cases by specialty:

1. Gastroenterology: 29 percent
2. Ophthalmology: 20 percent
3. Orthopedics: 16 percent
4. Pain management: 16 percent
5. Otolaryngology: 8 percent
6. General surgery: 7 percent
7. Oral surgery: 7 percent
8. Urology: 6 percent
9. Obstetrics and gynecology: 4 percent
10. Plastic surgery: 4 percent
11. Podiatry: 3 percent
