2. Physicians, medical students, therapists, professors, activists and family members impacted by physician suicide will share their experiences at the events.
3. Care2 anticipates about 1,000 people attending the events, nationally.
4. Care2 also created a petition asking the Association of American Medical Colleges and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to more effectively prevent medical student and resident suicides. The petition currently has more than 66,000 signatures.
5. About 400 physicians commit suicide annually in the United States, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Female physicians experience a 250 percent to 400 percent greater suicide rate than females in other professions.
