10 states with the most physician searches per capita

Utah has the most physician search engagements per capita, according to Merritt Hawkins and AMN Healthcare’s 2022 “Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentives.”

The report is based on 2,695 physician and advanced practitioner search engagements conducted from April 1, 2021, to March 31.

Here are the states where Merritt Hawkins had the most search engagements per capita:

1. Utah: 16.36 searches per capita

2. Hawaii: 14.55

3. North Dakota: 7.79 

4. Alaska: 7.33 

5. South Carolina: 5.12 

6. Delaware: 3.30 

7. Alabama: 3.14 

8. Maryland: 3.09 

9. Oklahoma: 3.05 

10. Ohio: 2.81
