As part of its strategy, AAMC has recruited a number of surgeons to expand services already offered or to start new programs. The new multi-specialty surgery center that opened Monday will specialize in gastrointestinal surgeries, treating ailments such as colitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Maura Callanan, AAMC’s executive director for surgery and for women and children’s services, said the expansion of the hospital’s surgical program is intended to meet demand in the community.
