A poll taken earlier this year by the American College of Physician Executives found that more than half of physician leaders felt their organizations would be impacted by sequestration.
Around 58 percent thought that Medicare reimbursement drops and scaled-back funding for research and training programs would impact their organizations. Another 20 percent were unsure about the potential impact.
Some felt the sequestration would disproportionately affect self-employed physicians in group practice settings, forcing them to join a hospital or health system. However, many others felt the true impact of budget cuts wouldn't be known for some time.
