Job opening: Vice President of Development, Innovations Surgery Group

Innovations Surgery Group (ISG) specializes in the development and management of minimally invasive GYN freestanding ambulatory surgery centers (“ASCs”) in partnership with practicing physicians.  The company focus is on single specialty GYN centers. 

Through the development of powerful new surgical techniques and procedures, ISG expects rapid expansion and growth in both the regional and national ASC markets for minimally invasive GYN surgical services over the next several years.   The company currently has activity in Maryland and Texas, and is now seeking a VP for Business Development based in the Washington DC metro area.  The focus of the VP of Business Development is to allow for the steady “smart” growth of one to two well positioned and highly qualified ASC sites each year.

In this important role, primary responsibilities for the VP of Business Development are:

  • Overall development and management of ASC sites in Maryland and selective areas of the US from the ground up.  This includes ALL aspects of ASC development as follows:
    • Site identification - acquisition or lease
    • Selection of architects and contractors
    • State and federal permitting
    • Build out management
  • Recruitment of physician partners to include practice analysis, legal contracts, and managerial issues.
    • Developing sales strategies for targeted physician partners to include lead generation, proposal and presentation, development and delivery, and deal closing.
    • Analysis of prospective physician partner practice data to include surgical volume, payors, demographics, primary physician contacts.
    • Discussion of ASC management structure and process with prospective physician partners
    • Contract negotiation with prospective physician partners

Qualified candidates for this highly visible position should have the following experience and abilities:

  • Extensive experience in all aspects of the development and management of ASC entities to include managerial, financial, and legal. Candidates for the position must have had prior experience in the creation of “de novo” ASC’s, as well as with the ongoing management of these facilities.   Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in ASC development, single or multispecialty, to include prior experience and exposure to minimally invasive GYN service lines.  Current or prior experience in the Maryland market will be extremely helpful.  Prior experience in a physician liaison or sales role is a positive.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to build trust and respect with partners.  The ideal candidate will also have relevant physician and/or hospital contacts in the industry.
  • Experience in evaluating prospective partnership opportunities to discern level of potential and be able to gather and analyze partner’s information, including local market data and competition.
  • High-energy and enthusiasm for the ASC industry, self-motivation and a team-player. 
  • Ability to travel (overnight) at least 50-75% of time and work remotely from home.
