Job Opening: Director of Clinical Services for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Physicians Ambulatory Surgery Centers in Texas (San Antonio)

Job Title: Director of Clinical Services

 

Reports to: Administrator

 

Position Summary:

 

The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for operations of the ASC including supervising activities in multiple clinical areas as well as coordinating nursing services with those of the medical and administrative staff. He/she participates as part of the center’s management team in planning, policy formulation and administrative decision making, primarily with the functions and operations of the facilities nursing services. He/she is responsible for the quality of patient care, resource and fiscal management in multiple clinical settings.

 


Responsibilities:

 

1. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and supervising clinical services and patient activities

 

2. Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice in the center

 

3. Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern employee practice in the clinical setting and other services under her/his control

 

4. Ensures compliance with regulations of governing bodies, accreditation organizations, Federal and state regulations by continually monitoring the facilities service delivery and initialing changes as necessary

 

5. Provides leadership and guidance to other leaders and staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement

 

6. Assesses the quality of care rendered by the staff

 

7. Responsible for the credentialing of nursing and technical staff

 

8. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, staff retention, performance evaluation and staff development in the clinical setting

 

9. Serves as a member of the Professional Standards Committee

 

10. Ensures the proper function of equipment and quantity of supplies

 

11. Ensures cost-conscious use of all resources

 

12. Fosters a smooth functioning, efficient organization through timely and effective resolution of disputes

 

13. Supports and participates in Quality Assurance activities

 

14. Abides by and supports established center policies and procedures

 

15. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business

 

16. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, medical staff members and center employees

 

17. Plans and recommends equipment needs and or modifications to center

 


Qualifications:

 

1. Current State License

 

2. Graduate of an accredited nursing school

 

3. Bachelors degree preferred

 

4. Five years experience in operating room nursing

 

5. A minimum of 2 years experience with clinical supervision in a surgical setting

 

6. Current BLS

 

7. ACLS

 

8. PALS preferred

 


Special Skills and Knowledge:

 

1. Understanding of the principles of sterile technique and operating room practice

 

2. Principles of management

 

3. Strong communication, managerial, and organizational skills

 

4. Ability to maintain a strong relationship with internal and external customers

 


Essential Functions:

 

1. Assure clinical care delivered at the center is of top quality and continuously improving

 

2. Assess and resolve problems/grievances

 

3. Maintain a good working relationship with medical staff

 

4. Maintain the property and physical assets of the center, in the clinical setting, in a good and safe state of repair and operating condition

7. Ability to function independently without constant supervision

 

8. Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance.

 

9. Must successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening and the annual screening each year thereafter as an employee.
