Voters want politicians, officials to tackle rising premiums — 6 findings

A Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease survey evaluated what registered voters want politicians and government officials to focus on moving forward regarding healthcare costs.

Here are six findings:

1. Of registered voters, 20 percent want politicians and officials to center their attention on rising premiums.

2. Fourteen percent want officials to focus on requiring payers to give upfront information regarding out-of-pocket costs.

3. Ten percent of registered voters say officials should prioritize protecting patients from surprise bills following out-of-network care.

4. While 17 percent of voters want legislators to focus on making payers accountable for inappropriate denials of care, a reported 19 percent want politicians and officials to prioritize lowering co-pays and deductibles for medical and physician care.

5. Eleven percent of registered voters think the top priority should be lowering co-pays and deductibles for prescription drugs.

6. Eight percent had no opinion regarding a top priority.
