$9.2 million: The record-breaking number of Stark law voluntary self-referral disclosure settlements in 2022, according to CMS data. 

104: The number of self-referral disclosure settlements settled in 2022, up from 27 in 2021. 

232: The number of additional disclosures withdrawn, closed without settlement or settled by CMS’ law enforcement partners.

$15,000: The fine physicians face for each service provided in violation of Stark law, plus additional civil penalties of up to $100,000, according to a July 3 report from the National Law Review. 

30%: The percentage of the case payout that whistleblowers can receive after a Stark law case is accepted and a financial fine is imposed.
