Tenet & Cigna reach agreement after lengthy dispute — 3 insights

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare signed a multi-year agreement with Cigna Jan. 1, following months of heated negotiation.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Tenet’s previous contract with Cigna expired Dec. 31, 2018. The two companies had been in negotiations since February 2018.

2. The new agreement gives Cigna members with commercial health plans uninterrupted in-network access to Tenet’s hospitals, outpatient centers and employed physicians.

3. All Tenet facilities will remain in-network for patients with Cigna-HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans.
