A surgeon-designed app for postoperative documentation was added to the Epic App Orchard, an app store Epic Systems launched in 2017 for applications compatible with its EMR infrastructure. Here are five highlights.

1. At the point of care, the Vincari app documents ICD-10-specific details and information needed for compliance with The Joint Commission standards. It personalizes transcription based on surgeons' documentation habits.

2. Within 90 seconds, Vincari creates a report and makes required documentation available in the EMR. It automatically distributes a copy to referring physician practices and sends a charge report to the surgeon's practice for coding and billing.

3. Vincari is compatible with Epic 2015, Epic 2017 and Epic 2018.

4. Vincari is designed to eliminate documentation redundancy while supporting quality care and proper reimbursement.

5. Lucian Newman III, MD, founded Vincari to develop software solutions for clinical and surgical documentation and reduce physicians' time spent on administrative tasks. Dr. Newman is a practicing general surgeon at The Surgery Clinic based in Gadsden, Ala.
