Republicans plan to unveil ACA alternative in 45 days — 2 notes

Kevin Brady (R-Texas), House Ways and Means Committee chairman said the House Republicans plan to outline their Affordable Care Act alternative within the next 45 days, according to The Hill.

Here are four notes:

1. In July, the GOP plans for Speaker Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) to go over their plans before the Republican National Convention.

2. While the GOP party has said it would devise an ACA alternative for years, the party has not yet united behind one plan or brought a plan up for vote.

3. In early April, Speaker Ryan's office said the alternative will not be put into legislative text. Rather, it will consist of an outline of ideas.

4. In the alterative, Speaker Ryan said he wants to get rid of the ACA's ban on insurers discriminating based on pre-existing conditions. Rather, Speaker Ryan's plan would fund state-based high-risk pools so individuals with pre-existing conditions could obtain coverage.
