ProMedica notifies patients it may not participate in Aetna networks: 3 details

Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica and Aetna are clashing over contract terms for 2019, 13abc reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The health system and insurer have been unable to agree on terms of the 2019 commercial and Medicare Advantage contracts for Aetna members treated by ProMedica physicians.

2. ProMedica has notified patients by mail that it won’t participate in Aetna networks beginning Jan. 1, 2019.

3. In a statement to 13abc, ProMedica said it “remains committed to ongoing negotiations with Aetna to reach a mutually acceptable resolution as quickly as possible.” An Aetna spokesperson told the news station both sides are actively pursuing an agreement.
