Pres. Obama said in the letter that “MedPAC’s recommendations on cost reductions would be adopted unless opposed by a joint resolution of the Congress.”
The President’s support comes after Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) introduced legislation to expand the power of MedPAC. According to the report, MedPAC can currently advise Congress on Medicare matters and has no power to implement its recommendations.
