The coalition supports the implementation of the updated code set, despite stringent opposition from a number of organizations such as the American Medical Association. Along with other organizations, Premier sent a letter to Congress leaders urging them not to delay the implementation any further. The current implementation date is Oct.1, 2015.

Earlier this month, the Coalition for ICD-10 wrote a letter in response to remarks made by American Medical Association president Robert Wah, MD, opposing the implementation of the code set.
