A Pennsylvania physician has agreed to pay $100,000 and enter into a three-year compliance agreement with the DEA to resolve allegations of failing to maintain accurate controlled substance records and improperly handling controlled substances at his Pottstown practice, the Justice Department said in a July 2 news release.
Xiang Yuan, MD, allegedly failed to maintain complete and accurate records of controlled substances, wrote a prescription of stock and improperly moved controlled substances from his registered address in violation of the Controlled Substances Act.
As part of the settlement, Dr. Yuan entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the DEA imposing compliance obligations more stringent than those required by applicable law. The claims are allegations only and there has been no determination of liability.
