Oscar falls short in California: 6 takeaways

Despite health insurer Oscar being relatively popular among millennials, the payer failed to attractive a significant number of California enrollees, according to International Business Times.

Here are six takeaways:

1. Nearly 2,000 people signed up for plans on Covered California, the state healthcare exchange created under the ACA, in Los Angeles and Orange, which comprises 0.1 percent of the 1.57 million who purchased plans on the exchange for 2016.

2. In the state, approximately 3,000 people bought health insurance from Oscar from the exchange.

3. Of Orange County residents, 250 people enrolled in Oscar.

4. Nearly 1,750 people in Los Angeles enrolled in Oscar.

5. More than 40,000 New York and New Jersey residents are enrolled in Oscar plans.

6. The payer has raised almost $330 million from investors such as Google Capital and Goldman Sachs.
