Just 42% of physicians say their organization is on stable financial footing, according to 2025 Physician Sentiment Survey.
The Harris Poll conducted the survey between Jan. 2 and Jan. 15, gathering responses from 1,001 physicians — including 750 primary care providers and 251 specialists.
Here are five things to know:
1. More than half (56%) of physicians express concern about their organization’s financial health. Female physicians reported higher levels of concern than male physicians (63% vs. 51%).
2. Reimbursement challenges topped financial concerns for 69% of physicians, including issues with Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers.
3. A significant majority (77%) of physicians report spending considerable time on non-reimbursable tasks, further straining practice efficiency and finances.
4. Concerns over organizational financial health remain a persistent issue, with 56% of respondents identifying it as a top worry, repeated across several survey questions.
5. One-quarter of physicians said that Medicare reimbursement rates have the biggest impact on the overall cost to operate their practice.
