Here are four things to know:
1. The plan provides preventative care, no deductibles and prescription drug coverage.
2. Beneficiaries pay $0 to $20 monthly for premiums, determined by household size and income.
3. If a person’s household income is below 150 percent of the federal poverty level, he or she will probably pay nothing for premiums.
4. Because the federal penalty for lack of health insurance reaches $695 in 2016, enrolling in this plan by May 15 may reduce the penalty to $290 on next year’s tax returns.
