The vote on the legislation, which was introduced by Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer (D), went along party lines, with only one Democrat — Herbert Conaway Jr. — voting against it.

The bill now moves to the Senate, where Senator Joseph Vitale (D) has already introduced it. The bill is expected to be given to the Commerce and Insurance Committee, which is chaired by Senator Nia Gill (D).
