New Jersey legislation to address surprise OON bills

Legislation proposed in New Jersey would control how much out-of-network patients could be charged in the state, according to a North Jersey report.

The legislation would bar billing higher than in-network rates if a patient receives care in an emergency or from physicians at a hospital that is in-network, according to the report.

Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin (D) is the primary sponsor of the bill.
