Practices that fail to conduct end-to-end testing for ICD-10 diagnostic codes will significantly increase their chances of cash flow disruption, according to the Medical Group Management Association.
CMS currently is not mandating rigorous end-to-end testing, but doing so will ensure the coding system actually works so practices and physicians can get appropriately paid.
In a letter to HHS, MGMA President Susan Turney, MD, lauded the mandate for front-end testing, but said the move is still insufficient to preparing practices for the October 2014 ICD-10 deadline.
