Here are three things physicians need to know:
1. MedPAC asks Congress to increase Medicare payments for physicians by 50% of the Medicare Economic Index increase, according to an article on the American Hospital Association’s website.
2. Additionally, the commission calls for a non-budget-neutral payment for low-income Medicare services for the physician fee schedule as well as a 1.5% increase to hospital inpatient and outpatient service Medicare payment rates.
3. The commission will vote on these recommendations in January.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
