ICD-10 check-in: Where are healthcare stakeholders in the preparation process?

A Healthcare Billing and Management Association survey found that more than half of healthcare providers, 51 percent, report being “somewhat” ready for the ICD-10 transition set to take place Oct. 1, 2015, according to an ICD-10 Monitor report.

Here are 10 statistics from the survey.

•    23 percent of respondents have not completed system updates.
•    37 percent of those respondents who have not completed system updates have no timeline for doing so.
•    61 percent of respondents reported successful testing.
•    39 percent of respondents have received no information from their clearinghouses on whether or not testing has been successful.
•    27 percent of respondents reported successful end-to-end testing.
•    49 percent of respondents are unsure of what type of testing their clearinghouses will conduct.
•    83 percent of respondents do not expect end-to-end testing to be available until 2015.
•    39 percent of respondents are unsure of what the final costs of the ICD-10 transition will be.
•    45 percent of respondents reported they are confident they will be ready for the final implementation date.
•    4 percent of respondents are not confident they will be ready for the final implementation date.
