Humana CEO highlights company’s relationship with Aetna during trial

Humana CEO Bruce Broussard told a judge that its deal with Aetna would reap success as Mr. Broussard and Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini “almost finished each other’s sentences” when they first met and share similar passions, according to Hartford Courant.

Mr. Broussard said the two CEOs share a passion of positively impacting the health insurance industry and the two companies have “complementary capabilities. “

The picture Mr. Broussard paints of the Aetna, Humana relationship drastically differs from that of Anthem and Cigna. Anthem and Cigna’s disharmonious relationship has come under fire with the two payers pointing fingers at the other for violating the terms of their agreement. In October 2016, a judge ordered Anthem and Cigna to release emails between the two companies accusing each other of breaching the potential merger agreement.
