Here are four points:

1. Sen. Greg Streube, R-Sarasota, filed the bill.

2. The Florida House has advocated for easing regulations to allow ASCs to keep patients up to 24 hours. However, the House faced resistance from the Senate in the past.

3. In March, the Senate did not pass a prior form of the bill that created recovery care centers, in which patients can stay at the center for up to 72 hours post surgery.

4. The current bill deviates from prior legislation because it forbids ASCs from operating recovery care centers.
