Dr. Russell Howerton, Hologic’s Kathleen Troeger join PCORI governing board

The Comptroller General of the United States and U.S. Government Accountability Office head Gene L. Dodaro appointed two new members of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute governing board.

The two new appointees are Russell Howerton, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of clinical operations at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., and Kathleen Troeger, MPH, director of outcomes research at Hologic.

Dr. Howerton is responsible for leading the quality, safety and risk functions for Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s four hospitals and ambulatory clinics as well as the physician organizations. Ms. Troeger provides strategic direction for healthcare outcomes and comparative research and clinical studies to demonstrate diagnostic and surgical product value.

Grayson Norquist, MD, was named to a second three-year term as chair and four other members of the board were re-appointed.
