Does GOP support for Medicare expansion hinder an ACA repeal?

Another curveball in the path toward ACA repeal, some Republican governors don’t want to lose Medicaid expansion in their states, according to The Hill.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Among those GOP leaders in favor of Medicaid expansion is Gov. Rick Snyder (R-Mich.). He doesn’t want to see his state’s program, Healthy Michigan, go, saying the program has yielded healthier behaviors and improved patient outcomes.

2. Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) is in agreement with Gov. Snyder. He wrote a letter to Congress on Jan. 18, 2017, asking for the protection of Medicaid expansion.

3. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) commented Republicans should collaborate with Democrats to “fix” the ACA, while on CNBC.
