Here are 30 statistics on ambulatory surgery center accounts receivable days outstanding and A/R aging based on geographic region, according to VMG Health's 2012 Ambulatory Surgical Center Financial & Operational Benchmarking Study.

•    Southwest: 29
•    Midwest: 35
•    Southeast: 33
•    Northeast:  29

A/R aging

West
•    0 to 30 days: 55.8 percent
•    31 to 60 days: 16.5 percent
•    61 to 90 days: 7.5 percent
•    91 to 120 days: 5.1 percent
•    More than 120 days: 12.7 percent

Southwest
•    0 to 30 days: 60.4 percent
•    31 to 60 days: 13.3 percent
•    61 to 90 days: 6.4 percent
•    91 to 120 days: 4.7 percent
•    More than 120 days: 14.1 percent

Midwest
•    0 to 30 days: 55.4 percent
•    31 to 60 days: 18 percent
•    61 to 90 days: 8.9 percent
•    91 to 120 days: 5.3 percent
•    More than 120 days: 9.8 percent

Southeast
•    0 to 30 days: 58.8 percent
•    31 to 60 days: 14.5 percent
•    61 to 90 days: 7.1 percent
•    91 to 120 days: 5.2 percent
