Deborah Grider Appointed New President of AAPC

The American Academy of Professional Coders has announced the appointment of Deborah Grider as president, effective July 1, 2010, succeeding Reed Pew, who was recently appointed chairman of the board of directors for Eli Research’s healthcare group, according to an AAPC news release.

Ms. Grider brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to this position, focusing specifically in the areas of compliance, medical coding and reimbursement, according to the release. She joined AAPC last year as vice president of strategic development.

Prior to joining AAPC, she was president of Deborah Grider & Associates, LLC, an Indiana-based physician-consulting firm, and also worked as a practice administrator for both the Indiana University School of Medicine and Indianapolis Eye Physicians and Surgeons, according to the release.

“I am excited to build upon recent success and continue the historic growth of the company,” Ms. Grider said in the release. “We will continue to focus on the needs of our members while serving the growing demand for professional coders in the physician offices, outpatient facilities and health plans.”
