Dartmouth Hitchcock, Departments of Labor Partner to Train, Hire Medical Coders

Medical coding jobs are in high demand, as illustrated recently by 700 people vying for 10 open positions at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., according to a Vermont Public Radio report.

More coders will be needed to tackle the demands of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, as well as the upcoming ICD-10 code set implementation. Dartmouth Hitchcock teamed up with the state labor departments in New Hampshire and Vermont to find and train additional coders.

Coders selected for the program will receive their education at no cost.
