CPT 29220 (strapping of low back) has been deleted from the American Medical Association’s CPT 2010 Professional Edition, effective Jan. 1, 2010, according to a report from the American Chiropractic Association.
CPT 29799 (unlisted procedure, casting or strapping) should be used instead for low-back strapping. The ACA advised practices to submit appropriate supporting documentation when using an unlisted code to provide an adequate description of “the nature, extent and need for the procedure,” according to the report.
