The ICD-10 delay has dominated the conversation in the coding and billing sector of healthcare. Much activity in the industry has focused on ICD-10 preparation and timeline adjustments, but new partnerships and acquisitions continue to be made as well.

Here are 12 healthcare coding and billing company acquisitions, announcements and partnerships that occurred in the past two months.

Amphion Medical Solutions released its Continuous Coding Quality Monitoring service. The service provides ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, hospitals and other healthcare providers with feedback needed for accurate billing, clinical documentation improvement and targeted coder and physician educations

CareCloud announced it added 170 new clients during its first quarter of 2014. The company also named Lee Horner its chief sales officer.

Career Step launched its new ICD-10 training courses at the American Academy of Professional Coders National Conference help April 13 to 16.

CodeSmart signed three new clients after the unexpected ICD-10 delay including New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, Wilson Medical Center in Nedodesha, Kan., and San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, Calif.

Creditron partnered with MediStreams to introduce a patient payment processing system for small and mid-sized healthcare practices.

Cloud-based softare, medical billing and IT services company edgeMED acquired Physicians' Billing Alternative.

Epazz, a cloud-based business software solutions provider, signed a letter of intent for the acquisition of a medical billing software company in the western United States. The acquisition is expected to inject $600,000 into the company's revenue stream within the first year.

gMed launched its GI Revenue Cycle Managemetn service, which allows gastroenterologists to integrate claims processing and collections with its gGastro platform.  

iPatientCare upgraded its training and resources aimed at ensuring a smooth transition to ICD-10.

MediGain intends to acquire Seattle-based Sound Management and Billing Services. The acquisition is a part of MediGain's growth strategy.

Precyse/HealthStream partnered with healthcare information network Availity to provide ICD-10 education for physician offices and the ambulatory market.

ZirMed formed a new partnership with Precyse/HealthStream to offer its physician office and ambulatory market clients a new ICD-10 education program.
