CNN: President-elect Trump’s Social Security advisor called for privatized Medicare: 3 notes

President-elect Donald Trump’s social security advisor Tom Leppert supports the privatization of both Social Security and Medicare, CNN reports.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Mr. Leppert is the former mayor of Dallas. When running in the Senate primary in 2012 he revealed his support for privatization.

2. In 2012, Mr. Leppert said in his 2012 campaign plan that to make the systems sustainable for younger generations, he suggests the government has to “provide subsidies for the purchase of certified private plans, raise the retirement age, encourage greater retirement savings and launch an initiative of Personal Retirement Accounts.”

3. Mr. Leppert lost his bid for the Senate in 2012. He endorsed Mr. Trump early in the campaign cycle.

4. Mr. Leppert has yet to make any current plans public.
