Here’s what you should know:
1. CMS found the surgery center failed to meet minimum health and safety standards required to participate in the Medicare program.
2. CMS also said the ASC did not comply with the Medicare/Medicaid conditions for coverage.
3. CMS cited a history of noncompliance as the rationale behind its decision. CMS surveyors noted noncompliance during surveys in July 2015, November 2017 and June 2018.
4. CMS will no longer provide payment for services to Medicare and/or Medicaid beneficiaries admitted after 12:01 a.m. Aug. 18, unless corrective action is taken.
5. According to Manta, ESEC Surgery Center opened in 2004 and has 24 employees.
