CMS predicts 2.95% increase in Medicare Advantage revenue: 4 key notes

After finalizing its 2018 payment and policy updates for Medicare Health and Drug Plans, CMS expects payers could see a 2.95 percent increase in Medicare Advantage revenues.

Here's what you should know.

1. In addition to the 2.95 percent growth projections, plans centered on improving quality of care will see "higher upsides and can grow and enhance the benefits they offer to enrollees."

2. CMS anticipates the changes will increase the amount of Medicare Advantage and Part D plans enrollees can select.

3. CMS Administrator Seema Verma reiterated CMS' support in strengthening the Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Program saying in a release, "These programs have been successful in allowing innovative approaches that give Medicare enrollees options that best for their individual health needs."

4. CMS released a request for information seeking feedback on Medicare Advantage and Part D, as well as, possible regulatory, sub-regulatory, policy, practice and procedural changes.
