CMS Encourages Practices to Craft an ICD-10 Project Plan

CMS released a list of tasks to be accomplished in the remaining months before ICD-10 goes into effect.

Such tasks include taking advantage of free webinars and implementation materials, planning a comprehensive budget, ensuring involvement of all stakeholders and assigning responsibility for managing the transition.

CMS also recommends beginning to update paper and electronic forms to identify where ICD-10 is used. Practices should be in the process of planning all ICD-10 training for clinicians, office managers, billers, coders and key staff.
