CMS recommends all HIPAA-covered entities should be taking steps to get ready for the Version 5010 compliance date of Jan 1, 2012, including conducting external testing to ensure timely compliance, according to a CMS release.

These two National 5010 Testing Days are an opportunity for all trading partners — including providers and vendors — to come together and test compliance efforts that are already underway with the added benefit of real-time help desk support and direct and immediate access to MACs, according to CMS.

More details concerning transactions to be tested are forthcoming from trading partners’ local MAC.
