Here are four takeaways:
1. Those eligible for the expansion will receive preventive care under the program, such as physicals and immunizations, mental healthcare, vision care, drug and alcohol services and others.
2. The California Department of Health Care Services estimates there are currently more than 114,900 undocumented children in a restricted Medi-Cal program, which previously only offered emergency care.
3. Another 55,000 undocumented children aren’t receiving any services right now and would be eligible for healthcare services under the new plan.
4. The state Department of Health Care Services predicts 50 percent will enroll during the program’s first 12 months.
