Here’s what you should know.
1. State Republicans accounted for the three votes while Democrats comprised the two votes against the legislation.
2. Senate Bill 3 would transition the state from its state exchange into the federal exchange in 2018, if the ACA still exists.
3. Republican legislators believe the exchange is a financial liability, while Democrats said the exchange allows the state to engage in a conversation with health insurance customers. Democratic legislators also maintain repealing the bill before legislators determine the ACA’s future is “unwise.”
